In this article I am going to tell you how a rangefinder can help you lower your score. The fact is that few other golf accessories will have such a big impact on you improving your game.

Hoe een goede afstandsmeter kan Improve Your Game Of Golf

How can a golf rangefinder lower your score?

First let me tell you what a golf rangefinder is and how it works.

A Golf rangefinder is a small device that will fit in your hand and will tell you the distance between you and another object. A rangefinder can either be a GPS-measuring unit measuring distance through satellite, a laser based rangefinder which uses objects to bounce a laser of to get an accurate measure of the distance to that object, or a telescope which uses a "line" to measure the distance to an object.

This might not sound like something that will or can improve your game but the truth is that it is a very powerful thing once you learn how the rangefinder to your advantage.

Find the hazard or the flag

When you know the distance from you to either a hazard or the green it will help you immensely with you club selection.

How do you think professional golfers pick their clubs when they are competing? How do you think they choose their golf clubs with such accuracy as they hit a perfectly weighted ball straight on to the green? It is because they know exactly how far they are going to hit the ball with each of their clubs. They also know the golf course they are playing and how far it is from them to the next hazard (water, bunker, tree) or the green and make a club selection accordingly.

A rangefinder will tell you exactly how far you will have to hit the ball to get over the bunker, the tree, the water, or the green. The rangefinder will tell you how far you hit the ball and with time you will learn like a professional golfer what club to use under a particular set of circumstances. If you decide to add a rangefinder to your golf equipment I can promise you that will not be something you are going to regret - if your truly serious about improving your game.

You will use it on most holes and you will most likely become addicted to your rangefinder, it will be like having your own - cheap version - of your personal caddy.

Increase your confidence

A good rangefinder will make you play the game with more confidence and at a higher pace. As you line up to take your next shot you will find out the distance to the next bunker in a matter of seconds. It will also give you an accurate measure between you and the flag giving you a great advantage when you choose your clubs.

Top 3 Required DJ Equipment Pieces for Beginners

The entry to start DJing is easier than ever because of the web and online shopping websites. Compared to a decade ago, it would be difficult to find DJ equipment in your area especially if you live in a small town but now it's completely accessible to you through the web.

Why mention all this? To get started with DJing, you only really need a few core pieces of equipment; all of which can be found online for a great price. This article will share what those three pieces are and how you can find them to start your own journey into learning how to DJ.

Top 3 Required DJ Equipment Pieces for Beginners

Top 3 Required DJ Equipment Pieces for Beginners

There are many different items that go into building a DJ setup but the reality is that just three pieces make up the basics.

DJ Turntables

The turntable is the quintessential piece of DJ equipment because this is where you will be playing all of your music. There are many different types of turntables such vinyl, CD and digital but they all are meant to do the same thing: play the music that you'll be mixing.

When purchasing turntables, look for higher end gear because this will be the most important part of your setup (you'll definitely want quality). Vinyl turntables such as the Technics 1210 series are top-notch for those that wish to play records. Pioneer CDJ's are industry standard for using CD's as your medium. The Vestax VCI-300 has quickly become one of the most important digital DJ controllers on the market.

You can expect to pay between 0 - 00 for each of the turntables but they're well worth it!

DJ Mixer

The DJ mixer is what ties everything together; it's what links your turntables together and gives you the control to build your mix through effects, cross fading and EQ control.

For the most part, you will find all of the features you need on the majority of DJ mixers on the market; they generally all come with the basic controls for getting started. However, you may want to go a bit higher end and purchase a mixer that may handle multiple controllers, additional inputs, cool effects and the ability to hook up to your computer with ease.

Overall, you want to find a mixer that gives you flexibility and will handle heavy amounts of use.

DJ Headphones

Finally, to complete your DJ Setup, you're going to need a pair of DJ headphones. Headphones for DJ's are generally the same that you can expect from normal offerings except with a few additional options such as being more stable, flexible and ready to handle heavy use.

Pioneer has some of the best offerings for DJ headphones on the market today and they're not all that expensive. When looking for a pair, just make sure they have the ability to swivel, fit over your ears and has a great dynamic range so you can hear every little detail in your mix.

Laser Range Finder Reviews

Laser rangefinders were invented for a specific purpose. They were designed to measure exact distances where physical measurement is not possible or extremely time consuming. The reason a laser is used is because its relatively low dispersion makes it an ideal choice for this purpose. How this technology works is that pulses of laser light are sent out towards the intended target or aim. They are reflected back and go through a receiving lens. By calculating the conduction-response time of these pulses, the software built into the range finder calculates the distance.

There are so many factors that affect the working and accuracy of the laser rangefinder. Primarily the pulse is of low strength so as to avoid harming human eyes. Other factors that will eventually decide the final application of the laser rangefinder are the quality of the optics being used, the circuitry and software controlling it. Originally developed with the obvious military purpose of targeting tools, this product quickly found numerous applications in civil engineering and the construction industry.

One of these applications is in the sport of golf. Laser rangefinders are being used in a widespread manner nowadays on almost every fairway. For the avid golfer, it is extremely valuable information to know how far a ball must be driven. For the starter it is an excellent tool to gauge how much swing must be applied for a given distance.

Laser Range Finder Reviews

When out looking to buy a rangefinder, keep in mind a few basic points. Always buy the best possible optics that you can afford to buy. This will be the deciding factor on how accurate the instrument really is. Look for resolution distances in the 250 to 400 yards range. A good instrument should tell you accurately how far your target green is.

Of course, the regular rules that apply to all electronic instruments also apply here, like battery life, bulk and ease of use. You do not want to buy an instrument that is accompanied by a 200 page operations manual or is so complicated to operate that you spend more time figuring it out than you do playing golf..

Important Professional Golf Tournaments

There are four major tournaments in Professional Golf: the Masters, the U.S. Open, the Open Championship and the PGA Championship.

These four most important golf championship games kick off with the Masters in April and go until the end of August. Winning all four is a nearly impossible feat; the "grand slam" has only happened once in the history of golf, won by Bobby Jones in 1930. (Though this is on a technicality, as the Master's did not yet exist. The closest a golfer has come to the grand slam as it is defined today is Tiger Woods, who won the 4 consecutively, but over 2 years.)

The elusive grand slam, therefore, is more of a myth than a reality; Roger Federer has 16 Grand Slam titles for men's tennis. But that does not change the level of importance that these 4 series hold.

Important Professional Golf Tournaments

The Masters Tournament kicks off the golf season, held in the first full week of April each year. (Women are not able to compete as the Augusta National Golf Club is a private men's only course.) The Masters is the only championship with a stagnant location. Bobby Jones, previously mentioned as the only slam winner, created the Masters when he designed and opened the Augusta, GA course in 1963.

The US Open is scheduled in June, so that the final Sunday of game play is on Father's Day. The Open is played at a variety of courses, with difficult scoring a goal to increase driving precision. The leaders are often close to par as the greens are chosen particularly for their severity (to be in the running for host, many clubs undergo renovations to make their courses more difficult).

The Open Championship, or British Open, is held on one of 9 historic courses in England and Scotland. It's the oldest of the four and the only grand slam championship on foreign soil. The British Open is held the weekend of the third Friday in July.

The PGA Championship, part of the PGA Tour, is held annually 4 weeks after the British Open. As it is the last of the majors, the PGA holds great importance: players who do well in the PGA are automatically invited to the other three the following year.

Callaway Rangefinder LR1200 Review

Being one of the most expensive rangefinder on the market, the Callaway Rangefinder LR1200 review had high expectations. After all, it should clearly outperform most other rangefinders in lesser price brackets in order to be a worthwhile investment for golfers. Also, as the flagship rangefinder of the entire Callaway line, it was quite literally designed to be that something special.

In some ways, it does stand out, but in other aspects, the Callaway Rangefinder LR1200 review found otherwise.

Highly Accurate and Simple to Use

Callaway Rangefinder LR1200 Review

Normally, the name Callaway is more associated with golf clubs than rangefinders, and in order to bring more to the table, Callaway teamed up with Nikon for the laser rangefinder technology that it uses. In this respect, it does not disappoint, and is able to offer a 0.5 yard (give or take) accuracy at mid-range distances that is higher than any other rangefinder.

On top of that, the Callaway Rangefinder LR1200 review was amazed at its simple 'one touch' concept that allows for quick and easy usage. Instead of fussing over the controls of a rangefinder while preparing for a shot, the LR1200 seamlessly would measure distance with a single click.

Unfavorable Comparisons

Inevitably, the question had to be asked during the Callaway Rangefinder LR1200 review as to how it stands up against other rangefinders, particularly the benchmark that is Bushnell. Although Callaway has employed a First Target Priority mode, that is supposed to more easily pick out the flag against a background of trees, many have expressed that it does not match the Bushnell's Pinseeker technology.

Furthermore, its range limit of 1,100 yards is slightly less than other top-of-the-line rangefinders, which causes many a Callaway Rangefinder LR1200 review to express dismay in its performance.

When all is said and done, it is a very useful rangefinder, with great technology that also includes a Scan mode, and 7x magnifications. But, for such an expensive model, the Callaway Rangefinder LR1200 is always bound to be measured to a higher standard, and in this, it does disappoint slightly.

Still, it does have its advantages, and processes distance much faster than other rangefinders. So, if targeting is not an issue, with a combination of the one touch usage and faster processing, a golfer would be able to get his readings in a fraction of the time that it would take when using other models.

Essentially, it boils down to a judgment call, but the Callaway Rangefinder LR1200 review would suggest that the model is no slouch, but could be better.

Choosing a Spotting Scope: What Is the Best Spotting Scope for You?

Choosing a spotting scope is something you want to make sure you get right the first time. These units can be expensive and there is lots of criteria that needs to be met before you can be sure you are getting the best spotting scope for you needs based on price, weight, length, body style, optical zoom, and more.

There are a multitude of uses for spotting scopes. The most common uses are bird watching, wildlife viewing, hunting, and astronomy. Regardless of your hobby, the same criteria apply when choosing a spotting scope. This article discusses the components that you will want to take into account when buying a spotter. For more information on particular spotting scope models, check out the link below.

Price and Quality: You get what you pay for so go with the best you can afford!

Choosing a Spotting Scope: What Is the Best Spotting Scope for You?

The first item that needs to be taken into consideration is price. Everyone has a different budget; therefore it is reasonable to assume the best spotting scope for you may be different than that of someone else due to price alone. Spotting scope prices vary from under 0 to well over 00, and you can bet there are a lot in between. When deciding on your budget, it is important to realize the difference in quality that price gets you. First of all, you need to spend at least 0 to get a spotting scope of any type of quality, although 0 is where the quality really starts to shine through. After that, then the law of diminishing returns applies and quality does not go up equally with price. For example, a 0 scope is usually twice as good as a 0 scope, but a 00 scope is usually not twice as good as a 0 scope. Nor is a 00 scope twice as good a 00 scope. There just isn't that big of a difference between mid-priced and high-priced unless you have them side by side. Still, typically the more money you spend the better of a scope you'll get. That is why it is important to go with the best scope you can afford, because when choosing a spotting scope you definitely get what you pay for.

Size: Weight, Length and Objective

There is a large variance in the size of spotting scopes. What you use it for will determine how big you can get by with. If you plan to bird watch, hunt, or view wildlife away from the road, then you will want to choose a spotting scope that is small enough to pack into a backpack. A good sized scope for this would be one that has an objective lens of 65mm or less, is not much over 12 inches, and weighs about 36 ounces plus or minus. You will also want to invest in a good lightweight tripod.

If your needs for a spotting scope will keep you within sight of your vehicle or on your deck, then you most certainly can get by with a much larger scope. Larger scopes equal more light gathering ability, wider field of view, and bigger price tag. When dealing with high end models, it is hard to tell the difference between larger scopes with 80mm objectives over scopes with 60mm objectives unless they are side by side. Even then the difference is only noticeable in low light conditions. Like I said though, if this scope is going to be mostly stationary, you will not regret going with a larger sized scope.

Body Style: Straight or Angled

When choosing a spotting scope, one of the biggest decisions you will have to make is to go with a straight or angled body. Both have their pros and cons, but in the end it all comes up to personal preference.

Angled Body:

Best for situations when standing as it requires less height of a tripod and will be best for multiple users of different size as it requires less height adjustment.
Harder for beginners to find game due to the angle.
While good for standing in the field, it is harder to pack.
Does not work well at all for viewing in a car with a window mount.
Straight Body:
Easier to get on the intended object.
Easy use with window mount and sitting in a car.
Better for packing.
Slightly less expensive then angled.
Taller tripod needed and more adjustment required for multiple users of different height.
Author's Preference:
Straight is the only way to go for my style of viewing. I spend a lot of time throughout the year viewing wildlife from the comfort of my vehicle with my spotting scope on a window mount. I also cram my spotter into my back pack a lot when hiking. I do not go anywhere without it so I need all the space and pack-ability I can get.

Optical Zoom:

Optical zoom is another very important factor to include when choosing a spotting scope. Most are variable with a range between 15-75 magnification power. You want to make sure the scope goes low enough that it is easy to find an object due to the increased field of view and less shakiness. On the other end of the spectrum, you want to have a scope that once you find something, you can zoom it in to get a close up view from afar.

The higher magnification power you have it set to, the grainier (or less clear) the image will be. It will also have a smaller field of view, and movement will be magnified making things look shakier. With high quality spotting scopes, the optics provide a generous field of view, gather a lot of light, and give crisp images. This makes it possible to have a clear image at higher magnification levels. This is not the case on less expensive models making the image quality deteriorate as you climb up in magnification. Therefore, if you are in the market for a less expensive spotting scope you will want something with magnification that starts low, say around 15 power, and goes up to 40-50 power. With more expensive spotting scopes you can get by with something that gives you more magnification and still get a clear image.
